Description
This somewhat unusual image has two points of interest, a treetop and a hummingbird that's regularly perching atop the tree. This color rendering captures both the spire of the tree and the bird occupying it. The unusually long and rather sparse spire extends about 18 inches from the uppermost branches of the tree to its tip. One of our visiting ruby-throated hummingbirds has decided that it's a good spot for resting while also guarding the all of the feeders on and around our deck. This little guy was the first to arrive this year (2022) and has taken ownership of all five feeders, jealously protecting them from even his own mate. The shot was taken from a distance of about 100 feet with a Canon R6 mirrorless camera equipped with an EF adapter and ancient 75-300mm zoom lens at a distance of approximately 100 feet.
