Description
As frantic as our local hummingbirds tend to be most of the time, they do indeed stop for a rest once in a while. This pretty female ruby-throated hummingbird perched on an emerging Lord Baltimore hibiscus bud in a position that allowed her to keep a close eye on *her* feeder. These little birds are highly territorial, and woe betide another hummingbird that intrudes. That includes her mate, siblings, and progeny. For once I did not need a lightening fast shutter to capture a close-up image of one of our many birds.
