Description
I captured this close-up image of a female hummingbird coming in for a landing on one of our feeders just a few days ago. Thanks to good glass, a steady hand, and a very fast shutter, I was able to capture a stop-action that shows some nice feather detail. The abstract leaf structure in the foreground was kind of an accident of post-processing and when I have a few spare moments I'll address that issue.
This image has been featured in "The Outdoor Photographer" and the “Created By Southern Artists” groups.

Thanks Dave! This was an exposure out of the middle of a high speed string of shots with a very fast shutter. Glad I captured in raw because the sun was behind the bird so in the original JPG the bird was nearly black and color might not have been recoverable without a lot of visual noise. It was a great editing project. ;)
