I've had a number of in-your-face encounters with our latest batch of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds here in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. As the birds have become more comfortable with me this Spring and Summer they've come closer and closer, allowing me to capture some nicely detailed in-flight closeups. This digitally altered square format early-evening portrait is my fanciful interpretation of what one of those close encounters might look like from inside the camera.
