Description
The deer at West Virginia's Canaan Valley Resort/State Park are used to people being close by, to the point that people-proximity puts them in danger when well-meaning visitors insist on feeding them people food despite warning signs all over the park. That's not a good idea because our diet of processed foods can quite literally destroy their digestive systems. On a rainy October day several years ago this fearless doe walked right up to our vehicle window looking for a handout, close enough that getting the camera to focus was a problem. Her implacable stare was a little unnerving so we moved on rather quickly and she went back to browsing. Story aside, this closeup autumn animal portrait, with rain-soaked coat and water droplets on the doe's whiskers and eyelashes, almost gives the impression that she's staring deeply into your soul.

Hi Elizabeth! Thanks!!! As close as she came (about 5 feet) it would have been impossible to miss the detail. ;)
