Description
This female ruby-throated hummingbird is one of several that frequent our feeders, and I truly enjoy watching their antics. Occasionally they'll get bold and challenge us when we step outdoors. That was the case when I captured this shot of a hovering (and wildly chirping) hummingbird wondering what I was doing and what that contraption was that I was aiming at it. Thanks to good glass and a very fast shutter, I caught her while in a downstroke of her wings that caused the gaps between feathers and let the background sky show through.
